The Art of Love
Matakana, Saturday, Apr 6
Find Yourself In Another World
If you love the unconventional and the inspiring, the Sculptureum is the perfect wedding venue, on 10ha grounds, just a stone’s throw from Matakana.
The original block of farmland has been transformed into a stunning sculpture park, where giant pink snails stand side by side with an enormous dandelion and a whale leaping out of an imaginary sea. Just look at the video on this page to get a full picture of all that awaits your wedding party.
Amazing sculpture isn’t all you’ll enjoy. Canapes are prepared by the on-site Rothko Restaurant, known for a culinary style which embodies the fresh flavours of the region and the season, accompanied by Laurent-Perrier champagne.
Guests at the last wedding of the day can also enjoy an after party in the stylish Miro Room.

Art Lover’s Dream
Anthony Grant, Sculptureum Founder
The amazing mixture of art and humour that is the Sculptureum is the brain-child of its founder, Auckland barrister Anthony Stark, who set out to create something unique, and succeeded.
“Sculptureum is for people who’ve been turned off art by boring displays and arrogant curators,” he says. “I want to show them that art can be fun and it can enrich your life.”
“You’d never see something like that in Auckland Art Gallery,” Anthony Grant says, pointing at a large rhinoceros made out of plaster and sack cloth. “But why not?”
